Door 5: Let's do good
The best Christmas spirit comes from helping others. Let's do good and pay it forward together!
Christmas is a time of good spirits and charity. You can do good too – would you like to participate in a Joulupuu collection campaign, like the Lumo homes’ staff, or is there some other cause that is near and dear to your heart?
The Joulupuu collection campaign collects gifts to put under the Christmas tree for children and young people who might otherwise be without gifts. The Salvation Army’s Christmas cauldrons have been visible on street corners during Christmastime for over a hundred years, and nowadays you can also participate in the collection online. The proceeds of the Good Christmas Spirit campaign are used to donate food gift cards for Christmas to low-income families with children. You can also, for example, delight a lonely elderly person with a Christmas flower.
If you want to give joy to a third party with your Christmas gift, you can choose a gift such as a goat, a sapling, literacy or a school uniform from the Toisenlainen Lahja website. Finn Church Aid delivers gifts to poor third-world countries.
Or would you rather give your time and volunteer? Volunteers are sought to help organise the Hurst Christmas party, for example.
Where will the Lumo homes' Christmas gift money go?
The funds reserved for Christmas gifts by Lumo homes will go to charity. Lumo residents will choose the recipient of the donation during December.
Let's make the wait for Christmas wonderful together!
Share the events of your building on social media with #lumohomes, so that others can see all the nice things that winter and Christmas time in a Lumo home can bring.
