Door 9: games make waiting for Christmas more fun
Here, you can pick up a few nice ideas that will make your young family’s wait for Christmas and Christmas holidays more enjoyable.
The wait for Christmas can feel far too long for the youngest family members, and fun activities are also often needed for the Christmas holidays. What would make the wait for Christmas feel shorter?
The Christmas songs playing all around you can feel more exciting if you start spotting particular words in them and make it into a competition. Who manages to spot the most star or reindeer words? Or could you come up with new lyrics to a familiar Christmas song? You can create a Christmas poem either by clipping individual words from newspapers or by blacking out some of the text – the remaining words form a poem that may surprise you or make you smile.
Those wanting physical activity can build an obstacle course at home, organise a limbo competition or try to build a domino sequence from household objects that can be used as a domino tiles, such as books.
If the weather is nice, we recommend spending time outdoors. A snowman building contest will make everyone happy. Who can build the funniest snowman? A snowman with his head on upside down could also serve as a good reminder to walk carefully on slippery trails. When the weather gets very cold, you can freeze ice lanterns to place along unlit paths.
Invite the neighbours’ children to play too!
Let’s make the wait for Christmas wonderful together!
