New carbon sink to Finland
Lumo took part in Zero Emissions Day on 21 September 2020 by compensating all carbon dioxide emissions caused by its employees during the campaign day. In addition, in order to mitigate climate change, the company will plant more than 300 saplings, one for each employee.
The planting will be done in cooperation with Reforest Finland Oy. The saplings will be planted in Kangasala in the spring 2021 and their growth will then be monitored through Reforest’s map service. The trees will be allowed to grow undisturbed for at least 60 years.
Zero Emissions Day is a campaign led by the Climate Leadership Coalition (CLC). The goal of the campaign is to give the world a break from fossil fuels, raise people’s awareness about the climate impact of their personal choices and engage people to make more sustainable consumption choices.
