The Lumo One skyscraper in the Kalasatama skyscraper block will offer a completely new kind of living comfort with a variety of services and shared areas.

One special feature of the unique Lumo One building apartments is a sunroom with a French balcony. The space is like a combination of a balcony and a standard room. The sunrooms offer a spectacular view of the Kalasatama area, and the space can also be made a natural part of the home thanks to glass doors which can be easily slid aside.

Interior decorator Niina Ahonen thinks that the Lumo home's sunroom is a clever idea which she has never seen before. The best part is that the space is not only limited to summer use.

“It's like a balcony that’s been taken to a whole new level. The balcony atmosphere can be enjoyed all year round”, Ahonen describes.

“With the tile flooring, you can plant things more freely, since you do not have to be careful of sensitive flooring.”

Furnishing the home with greenery and small-scale farming are a growing trend: many grow house plants and useful plants in their homes. According to Ahonen, the phenomenon is related to a people’s need to be closer to nature and to bring greenery indoors.

“New ways of farming indoors, such as hydroponic systems, are constantly emerging. The sunroom is great for small-scale farming.”

The Lumo One apartments' sunrooms can even fit larger planting boxes. Ahonen paints a picture of her own small garden in an apartment building.

“You could have an impressive green wall, planting boxes and useful plant patches.”

Similarly, various forms of home exercise have become worth their weight in gold in the past few years. It is good to have a dedicated space for sports equipment and activities at home. The sunroom is perfect for this purpose as well.

“The space is great for a small yoga studio where you can exercise, stretch and relax – surrounded by greenery. You can bring softness to the space by carpeting it, maybe with a grass carpet.”

There is, naturally, no need to dedicate the sunroom to plants. It is an excellent place for all sorts of other hobbies, such as painting, reading, crafts and even bike repairs. Paint and oil stains can be easily wiped off the tile floor.

“The room is a space that works year-round, and you can furnish it in many ways”, Ahonen says.

Niina Ahonen thinks that a person interested in making art could create a wonderful studio with easels. The views from the windows are a source of inspiration.

“The sunroom view can be better than a balcony view, because the view is open to the floor.

The room works well for all kinds of peaceful work and can be separated from the rest of the apartment with glass doors. Ahonen thinks the space would be great for remote working as well.

“You could also build an atmospheric library-style reading nook there.”

Ahonen believes that pet owners could also benefit from a tiled room that resembles a balcony. Pets are welcome in Lumo homes.

“I think the space would be a cat family's dream. Many cat owners find it difficult to place their pet's activities and sandbox. A cat tree would be great in this extra space.”
