Parcel lockers have made life easier for Lumo residents in the Helsinki metropolitan area since 2017.

In 2024, new lockers were installed at 30 Lumo buildings in Helsinki, Espoo, Hämeenlinna, Porvoo, Lahti, and Kuopio. 

This year, the expansion continues, with parcel lockers also coming to the surrounding municipalities of the metropolitan area and new cities.  

Many residents now make online shopping orders a daily routine, and PostNord's Lähiboksi makes parcel collection even more straightforward. 

"Parcel lockers are a good example of services that make everyday life easier. It's great that we have been able to bring PostNord's Lähiboksi to brighten our residents' daily lives," says Riikka Ilmakunnas, Concept Manager at Lumo homes. 

Lähiboksi lockers are located outdoors near residential buildings, allowing easy and flexible parcel collection around the clock. Outdoor parcel lockers are also available to all residents in the area. 

A satisfied Lumo resident from Helsinki sums up the service as follows: 

"It's wonderful to have a parcel locker right in the courtyard. No need to worry about making it to the collection point after work." 

Juha Peltola, responsible for PostNord's Lähiboksi, says that PostNord currently has the largest network of parcel lockers in residential areas in Finland. The network has been expanded according to demand year by year. 

For Lumo buildings, parcel lockers are placed in cooperation with PostNord. 

"PostNord shares their insights on which neighbourhoods and micro-locations have demand for parcel lockers. We then map out the Lumo buildings in these areas and assess together with the area's property manager whether the courtyard is suitable for a locker," Ilmakunnas explains. 

"However, the most important thing for us is to keep the courtyards of Lumo buildings peaceful and pleasant for our residents," Ilmakunnas concludes.
