Petonen
Petonen is a large residential area in the southern part of Kuopio's urban area, 10-12 km from the city centre. The districts of Petonen are Pirtti, Pitkälahti and Litmanen. The construction of the Petonen Park Town was started in 1986. The building stock consists mostly of detached and terraced houses, although the Pyörö area, which is considered the centre of Petonen, is clearly dominated by apartment blocks. In the southern part of Petonen, business areas such as Matkus and Kylmämäki are being built.
Services
The main services in the area are located in the immediate vicinity of the esplanade-style Pyörönkaari. Petonen has its own social and health care centre, library, parish centre and leisure centre.
