Attaching items to walls in your apartment

You may attach items to the walls of your apartment, as long as the work is done safely and without damaging the building. These guidelines help you achieve a neat result and avoid damage.

What should you keep in mind when attaching items to walls?

  • Make sure the wall can support the weight. The wall must be strong enough for the item you want to attach. If you are unsure, please contact your property manager through the My Lumo service.
  • Use appropriate wall fixings. Choose screws, wall plugs, anchors, or other fixings that suit the wall type.
  • Prefer light and removable solutions where possible. Adhesive hooks or other removable options that leave no marks can be a good choice, especially for lighter items.
  • Work carefully. The goal is to have a clean and safe result. Items attached to walls must not damage the building or cause any safety risk to residents.

Where should you avoid attaching items?

Items must not be attached to surfaces that are easily damaged. These include bathroom walls, floors, ceilings, built‑in furniture, doors, and balcony surfaces. If you are unsure about attaching anything, please contact your property manager. You can reach them through the My Lumo service.

We assess the condition of the walls and any marks left from items attached to walls during the move‑out inspection.

Painting walls

We provide the free paint benefit for Lumo residents. Please note that the paint benefit is not available in new or renovated Lumo buildings during the first two years.

The paint benefit includes not only paints but also rollers, brushes, masking tape, and a paint tray. You can select your paint shade from a palette of 18 colours. Alongside traditional white, there are yellow, red, blue, green, brown, and grey tones, available in soft muted, neutral, and timeless shades. The chosen colours are from the Tikkurila Tunne Colours collection.
